ABOUT US
The Sugar Glider Registry (SGR) is an official registry for Sugar Gliders (Petarus Breviceps). Headquartered in Wakeman, Ohio, the Sugar Glider Registry was founded in 2014 by Shelly Sterk of Glider Nursery.
OUR MISSION
Our mission at the Sugar Glider Registry is to collect, record and preserve the pedigrees of Sugar Gliders world-wide, and to record matters such as genetic and health issues.
Our success depends on our ability to provide efficient pedigree services to our users. We aspire to excellence in record-keeping, reporting, and supporting our users.
MEMBERSHIP
Currently the membership is open at no charge to its users. Each user must complete a user profile prior to registering sugar gliders. This currently free service is to entice the importation of current and past pedigrees of sugar gliders into the registry. The service will remain free throughout 2017 at which time a small registration fee may be implemented to maintain the registry.
OWNER/BREEDER CODE OF ETHICS
As the owner and/or breeder of any sugar glider registered with the Sugar Glider Registry, I pledge the following:
- To be a responsible and conscientious sugar glider owner.
- To provide proper housing, feeding and care.
- To provide medical care when needed for any sugar glider in my care.
- To obtain locally/federally required licensing of sugar gliders in my care.
- To refrain from participating in any illegal activity with sugar gliders in my care.
- To educate myself as to the generally accepted "Breed Standard".
- To always complete each online joey registration and/or transfer to the new owner.
- To always promote the Sugar Glider Registry in a favorable light.
- To avoid misrepresentation and/or falsifying pedigrees, and to deal fairly and honestly with everyone concerning my sugar gliders.
- To never intentionally use an animal that I am aware will produce defective offspring.
Any violation of the "Code of Ethics" is punishable by the temporary or permanent removal of registration privileges. Each case will be handled individually and final decisions are based on information and facts gathered on a case-by-case basis. Final decisions are at the sole discretion of the Sugar Glider Registry.
We reserve the right to refuse registration privileges, whether free or for a fee, to any individual, owner, breeder, or company.
COMMITTEES
The Sugar Glider will appoint committees as needed. Committees are essential to the development and growth of the registry. They provide a method of improvement, enhance accuracy and communication between the users and the registry. The Sugar Glider Registry encourages volunteer participation when the need arises. Strong committee members will enable the registry to address all challenges in a pro-active manner.
